Milan will bring together more than 1,200 professionals to discuss the challenges of the energy transition and renewable energy in Italy

Madrid, 21 July. Energyear Italia 2026 will hold its sixth edition on 13, 14 and 15 October at the UNAHOTELS Expo Fiera Milano, cementing its position as one of the leading events for the renewable energy sector in Italy. The event will bring together more than 1,200 professionals, over 100 partners, more than 120 speakers and more than 20 specialist panels.

The main new feature of this year’s event will be the extension of the conference to three days, a development that reflects the event’s growth and the increasing demand from the Italian energy sector. This extension will allow for a broader and more segmented programme, as well as a significant expansion of the networking spaces and opportunities, one of the conference’s central focuses.

Energyear Italia It will thus strengthen its position as a business platform and a link between companies, investors and key players in the region’s energy ecosystem, at a time marked by the acceleration of the energy transition in Italy.

Networking as a strategic focus of the event

Energyear Italia 2026 will strengthen its value proposition by placing professional networking at the heart of the experience, with a combination of physical spaces and digital tools designed to facilitate high-value connections, drive new business opportunities and encourage interaction amongst the sector’s key players.

Meeting management will be one of the key pillars of the event. Via the official app, attendees will be able to access the list of participants, request B2B meetings and organise their schedule efficiently. In addition, the organisers will set up an exclusive networking area with numbered tables for 20-minute meetings, which will be automatically allocated by the tool once each meeting has been confirmed.

The event will be rounded off with permanent networking areas, workshops, lunches, private rooms, cocktail receptions and a VIP dinner for sponsors, creating a high-calibre environment designed to foster connections, share knowledge and build strategic relationships in a flexible, efficient and results-oriented format.

A three-day programme focusing on the future of the sector

The programme for Energyear Italia 2026 will be structured around three main thematic blocks spread over the three days of the event.

The first day will focus on the development of renewable energy projects in Italy, addressing issues such as permitting, grid access, the implementation of utility-scale solar projects, bankability and technological competitiveness. New solutions such as agrivoltaics and the optimisation of project design will also be examined.

The second day will be devoted to energy storage (BESS), with sessions focusing on developments in the Italian battery market, business models, grid integration, hybridisation with solar, monetisation strategies and the bankability of energy storage projects.

The third day will focus on energy demand and new consumers, with particular attention paid to the role of data centres, industry and large electricity consumers. The programme will also cover procurement strategies using PPAs, behind-the-meter energy management, digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence to optimise consumption.

Italy as an energy market undergoing transformation

The event will take place against a backdrop of major transformation in the Italian energy system, characterised by sustained growth in renewable energy and rising demand for electricity. According to recent data from Terna, renewable energy generation in Italy rose by 27.8 per cent in February 2026, driven mainly by wind power, which is now the country’s leading source of electricity generation.

This scenario positions Italy as one of the most dynamic markets in southern Europe, although it also presents structural challenges relating to grid congestion, processing times and the need for further investment in electricity infrastructure.
