The Ministry of Energy and Mines, is a dependency of the Presidency of the Dominican Republic, a body created by Law 100-13, in 2013, with the purpose of being the organ of the Public Administration under the Executive Branch, in charge of the formulation and administration of the national energy and metallic and non-metallic mining policy. The Ministry of Energy and Mines, as the governing body of the system, is responsible for the formulation, adoption, monitoring, evaluation and control of policies, strategies, general plans, programs, projects and services related to the energy sector and its subsectors of electric power, renewable energy, nuclear energy, natural gas and mining.
