Hinicio is a strategic consulting company founded in 2006, specialized in energy and sustainable mobility. Since then, we have been globally recognized as a leading consultant in the field of hydrogen and fuel cells.

Our story began by supporting the development of the hydrogen and fuel cell industry in Europe with a small team of experts who shared a common vision: to develop a clean hydrogen economy to achieve a more sustainable planet. This team was led by Patrick Maio, current CEO of Hinicio and founder of the European Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Technology Platform, who also worked at the World Fuel Cell Council coordinating some of the first hydrogen projects in the European Union.

Due to the rapid acceptance of hydrogen as a key player in the energy transition, Hinicio established its headquarters in Brussels and opened its second office in Paris. With these two offices, Hinicio expanded its services towards the development of strategic studies and roadmaps to support public and private clients worldwide in preparing for the sustainable energy revolution. In 2016, with a track record of over 150 projects in Europe and Asia, Hinicio became a member of the FCH JU in Europe, now the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, and offered consulting services such as market exit strategies, business models, and project management assistance.

In 2014, after our consolidation in the H2 market in Europe, Hinicio started working on CertifHy, the first Guarantee of Origin (GO) certification system for Europe, a project now supported by the European Commission, which increased interest in adopting clean hydrogen in other regions. In 2015, we opened the first office in Latin America and established additional business agreements in Asia and the MENA region. Thanks to our efforts, by 2022, we have offices in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, the USA, Chile, and Colombia, with various business agreements in China and Mexico, and have worked in about 30 countries with over 600 projects worldwide.
