France's renewable energy sector is growing fast. Following his re-election in early 2023, French President Emmanuel Macron announced ambitious plans for the country: a 10-fold increase in planned solar capacity to 100 GW by 2050 and an increase in offshore wind to 40 GW over the next 30 years.

The share of renewable energy in electricity generation exceeded 28% in 2022. The objective is to increase this figure to over 45% by 2030. According to the RECAI 2023 ranking, France is the 4th most attractive country in the world to invest in renewables and 5th for the PPA market.

The country will invest more than €30 billion in renewables by 2028 to support more than 30 GW of new solar, onshore wind and hydro generation capacity, and the sector is experiencing a total turnover of €20 billion, an increase of more than 15% compared to 2022.

The need for synergies between local and well established international players now entering the market is more urgent than ever.
