Virginia Zalaquett is a Civil Industrial Engineer in electricity from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Executive Master from the École Polytechnique, with extensive experience in the field of energy, energy efficiency, public policy and finance. Virginia is a part-time professor and coordinator of the Energy Efficiency degree at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She is also a consultant for the International Energy Agency. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Agency for Energy Sustainability of Chile. She also headed the Energy Efficiency Division of the Ministry of Energy of Chile, in charge of defining the country's energy efficiency policies. She has been responsible for a non-profit foundation and has experience in the banking sector.
